Gainesville
HotShots
Established 1999
State Cup Final Four 2003, 2004, 2005,
and 2007. Finalists in 2005 and 2007.
The Gainesville HotShots
were started by Alan and Aimee
Womack in 1999. They created the HotShots
to develop players beyond what
was then offered by either rec soccer
or select soccer in Gainesville. Girls'
travel teams didn't start before U12
back then, and the impression was that
Gainesville select soccer in general
couldn't compete with the major clubs
from the big cities around the state
and beyond. The HotShots
blazed a trail that other teams
in Gainesville hope to follow. These
girls proved to the city of Gainesville
and to soccer Clubs throughout the Southeast
that a small market team can work their
way into the upper tier of youth competitive
soccer. The Hotties really raised the
bar for soccer in Gainesville, and all
the teams that are following in their
cleat prints, both boys' and girls',
benefit from their achievements.
The HotShots
represent five different High
Schools in the area. There were nine
players named to the Gainesville Sun's
all-area girls soccer team as freshmen.
The HotShots
have had many successes over the years.
They have won or been finalists in over
10 tournaments over the past six seasons,
including titles at the Savannah Cup
(U12), the Pensacola Classic (U14),
and the Gator Showcase (U16). During
their U15 season they were finalists
in the Seminole Fall Festival and the
Gator Showcase, playing up in the U16
division. As U15's they were the State
Cup Finalists losing only one game,
in OT, of the eleven during their State
Cup run. They have been finalists at
many other tourneys, most notably at
Disney (U10, U11, U12) and at the Orange
Classic (U14). They were semi-finalists
at the Atlanta Cup three times , as
U13's, and U14's, and U16's. As U17's
the HotShots returned to the State Cup
Finals.
